Although using Irrigation to clear ear wax is commonly called "syringing", it does not use a syringe at all! Using an actual syringe to clear ear wax has been considered as dangerous for many years now by the UK health profession.
Irrigation can be equally effective as Microsuction and is preferred by some people because they are used to it. A small jet of water is propelled into the ear canal by a small pump, this loosens the wax and washes it out of the ear canal and into a cup under the ear. This usually requires 7-10 days of softening with olive oil spray prior to the procedure.
