Microsuction is a term used for 'suction under microscope'. The nurse uses a focused light and a microscope worn over the eyes or an endoscope. This helps them see in great detail the inside of the ear canal and see where the blockage is. Then using a small tube attached to a gentle suction machine, the blockage is gently removed from the ear canal. This procedure is extremely safe and classed as the gold standard method according to NICE guidelines. This procedure should only be performed by either a Nurse, Doctor or Audiologist.
